ACE at Dessau Elementary

What is ACE?

ACE stands for Accelerating Campus Excellence. It is a district-supported model that brings extra academic support and enrichment to Dessau Elementary. The goal is simple: make sure every student has what they need to learn and grow.

ACE adds resources to this campus. Students get more support in reading and math, plus enrichment activities that give them more ways to connect with what they are learning.

What Stays the Same

Your child's school day will not get longer. School hours are not changing. Transportation is not changing. Your family's daily routine stays the same.

Students continue to attend their neighborhood school. If you live in the campus attendance zone, this is your child's school. Transfers follow the same district process they always have.

What Is Changing: Six Extra School Days

ACE campuses follow a slightly different school calendar. The first day of school for the 2026-2027 school year is Tuesday, August 4. That is nine days before the traditional district start date of August 13. The last day of school remains May 27, the same as every other PfISD campus.

Those first days matter. Here is what your child can expect during that opening week:

  • Meet the teacher: Students will meet their teacher and get settled in their classroom.
  • House assignment: Every student and staff member will be sorted into a house, a fun way for students across all grade levels and programs to build connections with each other from day one.
  • Community building: Time focused on social-emotional learning, building relationships, and starting the year feeling welcome and supported.
  • Field Trip: Students in grades 2-5 will kickstart the year with a fun and educational field trip.
  • Jumping back in: Teachers will ease students back into learning, refreshing skills after the summer break, so every student starts strong.

Starting together as a community sets the tone for the whole year. Students who are there from the beginning build friendships faster, feel more at home, and are ready to learn.

We know an earlier start takes planning. Visit our calender page for a downloadable calendar.

Academic Support

Students at this campus receive added support in reading and math. Instruction is adjusted based on each student's progress. The extra school days give teachers time to slow down when needed, provide more support, and bring in enrichment activities that make learning stick.
